The Iconic Lambretta Scooter
The Italian Lambretta and Vespa scooters became popular after World War 2 and were invented as a smaller replacement to their bigger cousin, the military motorcycle for affordable civilian transportation. Production of the Lambretta began in Milan in1947 and later expanded to Brazil in1955 where it was produced under license until the early 1970's.

Mmmm... Lambretta
Lambrettas are highly collected and prized in Brazil and especially in The United Kingdom, where the "MODS" movement embraced the style and freedom the scooter offered, and its representation of the 1960's British counter culture. A "beefier," faster version of the Vespa.
The "MODS" movement was 60's style and freedom , and an affront to the proper English mannerisms of the time. The "MODS" were in the parallel time frame of the Hippie, Peace and the Love movement in the U.S. Both the Lambretta and the VW transporter are endeared to that freedom seeking, alternate lifestyle generation and valued by collectors.
.
VW Classics and Lambrettas are now highly sought after for the nostalgia of what they represented to that generation and for the icons that they have become today.
